About Boring Print
Let's be honest...
life is pretty sh*t.
It has it's ups and it's downs of course, but generally it's plain sailing straight down the middle. One foot in front of the other and then it's all over.
G.K. Westerton once said that:
"There are no uninteresting things, only uninterested people"
But what I'd like to say about that is...
Have you ever forgot to take the bins out on the right day and had to shove the next weeks worth of crap into an overflowing bin that absolutely stinks?
Now listen, I understand what the geezer was getting at. Boredom is an internal choice and you can find joy in anything... right?
I just find it hard to believe that it's possible to find ways to not be bored senseless whilst waiting in the queue to return an item that you bought at a supermarket knowing full well that without the receipt (that obviously you binned), you are going to have a mare getting your money back.
Maybe he was right, maybe he was wrong. In a way who gives a toss?
The point is I disagree with the idea that boredom is a negative feeling entirely.
Without boredom we'd never have had music by Arctic Monkeys, The Smiths or The Specials.
We'd never have had TV shows like The Office (UK, duh) or Peep Show.
I'm not comparing the tat I make to any of these creative greats, but it all comes from the same thing, finding joy and humour in the mundanity of life.
